2012 – UEFA Europa League Bucharest – Roumanie

Now, everybody knows the 2012 UEFA Europa League Final was played on 09 May 2012 at the National Arena in Bucarest- Roumania, which decided the winner of the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League, between Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid teams.

The National Stadium in Bucharest, Roumania, was selected to host the final match of the 2011 UEFA Europa League, at a meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee, on 29 January 2009. The History of the National Stadium began when the old stadium was demolished between December 2007 and February 2008. In October 2009, it was decided that the stadium should also include a retractable roof worthing 20,000,000 €, which can be opened or closed in 15 minutes. The official inauguration the stadium was on September 2011, with a UEFA Euro 2012 qualifier match between Roumania and France. The National Stadium holds 55,200 people and 3,600 VIP seats are available. Also includes 126 seats allotted for the press. On April 13, UEFA President Michel Platini has handed over the Europa League trophy to Mr. Oprescu the Mayor of Bucharest, the host city for the final of the competition. From here, the trophy will return to the Iberian Peninsula by Athletic Bilbao – Atletico Madrid team.
